WHOA WHOA WHOA
I have no words. I’m quite literally shooketh. I distinctly remember rewatching season one, episode six at LEAST three times. I am so broken and shattered, I cannot even think about it. Despite my brokenness throughout the episode, I managed to stay conscience for the most part. In the brief time I managed to stay alive, I caught many easter eggs, and I’m ready to break down the ending.
This is kind of a long one, but it’s fascinating. If ever you get the chance, read or study Norse mythology. Honestly, it’s amazing the kinds of storied humans have created over the years. As you may know, mythology was used to explain natural occurrences, since humans didn’t have much knowledge on the natural causations of things. One large part of Norse mythology is “Yggdrasil” (pronounced igg-drah-sill) otherwise known as the world tree. It’s a giant ash tree connecting all the nine realms in norse mythology to each one another. It represents the connection and bond we have with each other. Anyways, as you saw, Loki being green and all, became a tree. At first sight, it seems like a weird rope is being created, or lightened. I realized after a minute, he was forming a tree. Atop his thrown he has so desperately lusted for, he really does find his glorious purpose. He connects all time to each other, becoming a tree not unlike Yggdrasil. Given the fact that he is a figure from Norse mythology, it seems highly likely he has become Yggdrasil. Now, time can grow freely, blossoming and becoming something ethereal rather than problematic and just wrong. Earlier, in episode three, we saw Loki glaring at wooden statues of Odin, Thor, and Balder. These three gods are highly significant in Norse mythology, and Marvel comics. Balder has not yet made an MCU appearance, but has appeared in many, many old comics. This was the only other Norse connection I made, but it almost seemed like a weird premonition of what was to come in the season finale.
Where are my comic nerds at??!! This detail is HUGE, because it means the MCU is starting to embrace more of the comics. Earth 616 is the designated universe of our favorite OG heros. (and villains alike) In the comics, all the canonical events were categorized as Earth 616, and all my comic nerds know this! In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Christine and her coworkers declare Stephen and America from Earth 616. That was the first introductions of this term. Now, Mobius and B-15 have a discussion about a He Who Remains variant in Earth 616!! That means two things; Variants of Kang are still out there and rampaging. This is exactly what was announced, when Marvel declared this era the “Multiverse Saga.” Secondly, EARTH 616 IS THE UNIVERSE OF OUR HEROS!! This means, Kang is out hanging with Spider-Man, Hulk, and others! I’m sooo excited for what their encounter and interactions will look like. Also- this is probably an opportunity for Sylvie to come meet the gang!! Avengers four and five are all about Kang, and he’s coming in hot!
All right, I know we all have wonderings, and we need answers! Some of my personal questions are random, but necessary!! I need to know the following things
Oh my. I feel like I’ve created more questions and chaos, than I did answer questions.
Goofy art I found:
The Loki season finale was undoubtedly unexpected. It was really confusing at times, but hey, we got through it! As of now, Loki is managing the growing timeline, ensuring it remains alive and safe. Mobius seems to be in a very pensive state, and isn’t sure where to go next. A whole timeline awaits, but the past he wants is occupied. Sylvie has everything she could ever want, but two things remain unknown. What really was her nexus event? I shared some theories before, but many across the internet, including myself, want to know the truth. Next, Loki remains a missing part of the equation, and will Sylvie truly be able to live knowing where he is and what he is doing for her? Hunter B-15 is ready to interact and order the TVA, to become a much more benign and caring Renslayer. She, like Mobius, finds herself without a purpose and unsure of what to do. Renslayer is trapped in the void, and without a TemPad is utterly hopeless. Casey and O.B. are sort of stuck too. The main point of this finale, is that Kang has yet t be eliminated. He has already infiltrated multiple universes, and chances are the Avengers are gonna need some help. (Hopefully, enter Sylvie and Loki!!) I just can’t wait to see what lies ahead.
The Marvels comes out TOMORROW!! Many of my friends speculate there is a reason behind Loki and The Marvels coming out so close to each other. They’re saying Sylvie might make an appearance in The Marvels, since it is a female-led movie, but I highly doubt it. If anything, Sylvie would have appeared during Doctor Strange 2, which was right up her alley. I guess I could still keep my hopes up? Anyways, I’m super excited! Thanks so much for reading! I hope you’re still alive after this breath-taking finale, and hope you enjoy the rest of you day. See ya!
