Many fans of Encanto are like Dolores Madrigal’s #1 fan. I have never been. She’s the worst!!! First off, she ruined dinner because she couldn’t just shush, she whined and cried all the time about not being able to marry Mariano, and how Isabella would instead, and what a gossip girl she was! After some searching, there are many reasons as to why people may notice she is the villain. Which made me veeeeerrrry happy 😈.
First of all, imagine having super hearing. Cool, right? Now imagine hearing everything everywhere every minute of all eternity, and not being able to choose or control what you hear. Meet Dolores Madrigal.
Yeah I get it. Sob story, whatever. But then who else would have a better reason to destroy the magic? The Encanto? If their blessing was more of a curse? Exactly.
Did you notice that all throughout the film, Dolores treated Mirabel badly? For example, when Mirabel went to ask Dolores if anyone knew about the Encanto falling apart, Dolores glared, and then said, “The only one worried about the magic is you.” And, at the end, when the townsfolk were rebuilding the casita, Mirabel told Mariano about Dolores, and then Dolores just quickly explained she could take it from there. And then, if you watch it at a slow speed, she violently pushes Mirabel out the way! So much for someone who just set you up with the man of your dreams!
Okay. Going back to the part with Mirabel talking to Dolores. After Dolores told her ony she was the paranoid one, she immediately added, “And Louisa.” She wasn’t at all hesitant. But that’s not what tipped me off. It was the fact that Dolores was the one who originally tipped Mirabel telling her to go to Louisa, which then led Mirabel to her entire journey.
Not convinced yet? When Dolores was asked when the date for Mariano’s proposal would be, Dolores glared at Isabella, then said, “Tonight.” Then with a pause, and a glare, “He wants five babies.” Why would someone talk about children if they weren’t even married? Many people think that Dolores just said this to scare Isabella, since Dolores had wanted to marry Mariano.
Okay. And actually during the dinner, Dolores is the one who spread word of Mirabel, to first off, cause distress, and second of all, to again ruin the shot of Mariano marrying Isabella. What a drama queen 🙄.
Think about this: if Dolores can unwillingly hear everything, why didn’t she hear Bruno in the walls all those years? Why didn’t she hear Mirabel and Bruno’s discussion? She even admitted when the casita was in rubble, that she heard him in the walls everyday. The truth is she did hear it. She heard all those things. She didn’t tell anyone, because she wanted to destroy the miracle.
We can even further back this up because, when the town rebuilt the casita, and put in the new door, Dolores was the only one who looked miserable in the carving. She must have been overjoyed when the house was destroyed, because she didn’t have constant headaches from all the noise.
Look at it. She doesn’t look happy at all. Well, sorry Dolores! You kinda did it to yourself ;) One last thing I would like to say: there is a concept song by artist OR3O, called “Turn It Down”. It is for Dolores, but is SUCH A GOOD SONG. They even got Adassa, the voice of Dolores to sing her parts of the song. Soooooo amazing, enjoy and see you next week!
